Marching for Wages and Dignity
POWER's campaign against Counterfeit Care involved outreach, leadership development, political education, and an aggressive media and direct action campaign. We targeted actions at the Golden Gate Restaurant Association and the Hotel Council, which were the main financial backers of Prop. N. We also marched on the Department of Human Services, brooms in the air, demanding real wages - not workfare slavery, and calling attention to the fact that prop N would slash our wages to $1.84/ hour.
