Confronting Counterfeit Care
Round 1:
POWER found out the day before Gavin Newsom was announcing his Counterfeit Care initiative to slash General Assistance for homeless adults to $59/ month. We marched on his Press Conference and surprised him by bringing forward the voices of real homeless workfare workers who sweep the streets, clean MUNI buses, and work at General Hospital for their assistance. Proposition N was only the latest of a long history of politicians scapegoating the poor people in an effort to advance their own political careers. Gavin Newsom received a proper introduction to POWER.
